I have submitted the following questions-
1. How many people have been made redundant or remain without a permanent appointment following the change to two-tier schools in Cramlington and establishment of the Bede Academy in Blyth?
2. What is the breakdown of these numbers in terms of the phase of the three-tier system in which they were previously employed? |

| The answer given was that 28 Middle school staff from Cramlington and 11 Middle plus 4 First School staff from Blyth. 91% middle overall! There was a reasonably positive response on reviewing protocols for future change. |

From the PLF update paper for Family & Children's Services Scrutiny committee of Thursday 10 December:-
| Quote: | Key Issues
1. Whereas the number of staff in Blyth still without a post has fallen, there are still 51 staff who have not secured an alternative post for September 2010. Work is underway to ensure that this number is reduced as far as possible. The cost of any associated severance payments will need to be met from the Dedicated Schools grant (DSG). |
These comprise: November 2009
Teachers 24
Teaching Assistants 16
Clerical 0
Midday Supervisors 4
Caretakers 1
Cleaners 1
Catering Staff 5
Total 51 |

| There were past promises that PLF would have no negative impact on the funding of other schools. It will be interesting to see if these costs are to be met from the existing centrally retained portion of DSG or if they are looking to take it from the funding to other schools. |
