I had some time in Cramlington today during a while you wait and wait car job. I had a stroll down to the Shanklea First School site and was taken aback by the work Gleeson's are involved in there. I was also surpised to see asbestos removal facilities in place during term time.
The existing building which is being extended appears to have major problems at least in respect of timber cladding which has not been maintained and is in terrible condition and presumably-single-glazed steel window frames.
Temporary clasrooms are in place but on top of ugly timbering because of the falling slope on which they are located.
Can anybody more local to Shanklea comment on my own views? |

| Although I only live round the corner from Shanklea, I must admit I haven't been round to look at the site. But I will now!! |
